Rarity, float, wear and StatTrak
Valve sorts every Counter-Strike skin into rarity tiers: Mil-Spec, Restricted, Classified, Covert, and Rare Special Items — the knives and gloves. Condition follows the float Valve assigns each item, spread across five wear levels: Factory New (0.00–0.07), Minimal Wear (0.07–0.15), Field-Tested (0.15–0.38), Well-Worn (0.38–0.45) and Battle-Scarred (0.45–1.00). StatTrak™ items carry a stats counter; Souvenir editions come from official Counter-Strike tournaments. Retired collections such as Cobblestone and Mirage are among the rarest, as they are no longer in production.
Counter-Strike has its icons — AK-47 Redline, Desert Eagle Blaze, AWP Asiimov, M4A4 Howl, Karambit Fade, AK-47 Case Hardened, Butterfly Knife Doppler, AK-47 Fire Serpent and the AWP Dragon Lore — finishes collectors recognise on sight.
Case Battle, Skin Changer, Upgrader and Contracts
Case Battle puts two, three or four players — or two teams — on the same cases; the side whose openings add up to the higher collectible value takes every item. The Skin Changer exchanges an item you hold for a different one, the Upgrader has processed over 178 million exchanges, and Contracts combine several items into a single higher-tier one. All transfers run through automated Steam bots.

- Valve assigns every Counter-Strike skin a float between 0.00 and 1.00, and that value fixes how worn the finish looks. Five wear levels cover the scale: Factory New (0.00–0.07), Minimal Wear (0.07–0.15), Field-Tested (0.15–0.38), Well-Worn (0.38–0.45) and Battle-Scarred (0.45–1.00). The same AK-47 finish looks noticeably different across them, which is why float matters to collectors.
